![]() 308Win rifles on but had no interchangeability except for some minor parts with the Sako L579. The L579 copy was a short action they built. Apparently 3000 of the L61R copy rifles were brought to market as the Howa Golden Bear in 1967 and the L61R copy rifles all chambered in 30-06 could actually use a genuine Sako Finnbear bolt. The action copied was the L61R (Used on Sako Finnbear), they also produced a shorter action similar to the L57 9 but the same diameter as the L61R and about 0.2" longer than the L579. I am wrong about them making whole rifles/ actions for Sako but they did copy Sako. I read an article years ago about how Howa were contracted to make parts for Sako and then proceeded to manufacture actions and rifles. I own a Weatherby mk V action that was made in Japan, by Howa. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have never seen a Sako that was not made in Finland, except for some early models that were built on FN actions or barreled actions, before they made their own. ![]()
